Could you help me find out if there is or was a town called Milkendorf, Upper Silesia? My Obetz (Opitz) relatives who were members of the Church of Moravia came to America on the first voyage of the "Irene" in 1749 to Bethleham, Pennsylvania. I looked in a book about old Polish towns in Silesia and the closest I could find was Michelsdorf. There were three in Upper Silesia. One was southeast of Brieg, Schurgast, Lowen, Fakenberg. One was southwest of Reichthal. One was southeast of Jagerndorf and north of Troppau. Does Upper Silesia extend south into the Cech Republic? I would like to communicate by email to a Moravian Church in these towns. I, also, wonder if there are any Obetz families in these towns. Perhaps I am asking too much. If this is too much work or just simply impossible to do, please let me know. Jan Schmidt [email protected]
