Lubie Slask i Slazakow, choc sam Slazakiem nie jestem. Strona jest dobra i swietnie, ze integruje. Strona ta ciekawi mnie tez dlatego, ze jest redagowana po slasku. Ja zas zajmuje sie gwara i jej opisywaniem. Ja dziele sie swoimi materialami i wiadomosciami! Moze bede mogl sluzyc rada co do ortografii slaskiej? My family lived in Schwerta O.L.Kreis Lauban, Silesia from the 15 hundreds until the 1940s. I would like to hear anyone with any knowledge or information on that area. I visited there once in 1985 and again in 1991.I had also been working with a gentleman by the name of Kurt michael beckert from Konigelutter, Germany who did research in Kries Lauban, but for some reason he does not answer any letters.Any help would be great. thanks

I recently uncovered information that some of my Polish ancestors are actually from Silesia and that may in fact be the origin of my Surname. Any confirmation of this would be greatly appreciated.

My family names from Silesia are Radetzky, Bode, Keil, Raabe, Kraenzel and Weiss. My great grandmother was a Radetzky and both her parent's had the last name of Radetzky( from Leubush, Kreis Brieg, Silesi, Prussia. They had also lived at Kauern and Hoenigern in Silesia). She married and my great grandfather was a Bode (whose mother was also a Radetzky) The Bode's were from Friedland, Kreis Falkenbeg, Silesia, Prussia. Bode's came to Texas in the 1860's and Radetzky's came to Texas in the 1880. My great grandmother's brother wrote his life story and rememberances of their life in Silesia, voyage over and early days in Texas. He later visited with family in Silesia in the 1920's or thirty's. I have copies of his memories and also a book about the life story of Field Marshall Radetzky. Great-great-uncle Willie Radetzky (he kept this spelling but changed the spelling on his children's last names to Radetsky to make it easier to spell) was a circuit- rider Methodist minister. Robert Bode's parent's were Carl Bode and Charlotte Weiss. His sister stayed in Silesia with her husband who was Exchequer of the Chancellory. Johanna Radetzky Bode's parent's were Georg Frederick Radetzky and Charlotte Kraenzel. Anna Radetzky's (my great grandmother) parents were Wilhelm Radetzky and Susanna Radetzky. Wilhelm Radetzky's parents were George Radetzky and Rosina Raabe. Susanna Radetzky's parents were Johann Frederick Radetzky and Elisabeth Keil. Georg Frederick Radetzky and Charlotte Kraenzel are parent's of these Johann Frederick, George and Johanna Radetzky's I have listed. If anyone has any knowledge of these family names or places in Silesia is out there, please e-mail me.

The entire maternal line of my family originated from the small farm villages surrounding Opole town, emigrating in the years 1874,1880,1882,1887.They all settled in farm areas of Minnesota near the area of St.Cloud;most are still there today except for my great grandfather Pietron who went to North Dakota in 1889 and started his family. Some of my Silesian surnames are PIETRON,JENDRO,ZUR,SZAJCA,DAMBOWY,KASPAREK,SWITALA,BARON,BARCIK,WIECZOREK,DZIERZAN,KRYSTOSEK,SWINTEK,and many more I can't remember off the top of my head.Maybe I should contact you by snail mail? For all you genealogists,I found a Silesian Research List(SILRL)surfing yesterday. It can be found within the FEEFHS(Federation of East European Family History Societies)web home page.Sorry,I don't have the web address with me!Getting too long here, right?
